Calla lily, it's really ok to ask this question and often this concern has more to do with things a person is experiencing IRL where the person tends to hold the scape goat position where they are blamed for whatever goes wrong.
From what I have observed, most of the threads that die out either have simply run their course or ended up becoming a place where different members argued with each other over their differing opinions that ended up scaring the OP away. Sometimes the individual that started the thread is struggling too much to check back with it as well so the thread just stops and dies out.
One of the things I experience myself is sometimes when I post in a thread I anticipate being criticized or shut down and I know that is more about the dysfunction I have been experiencing IRL and not here at PC. I think that a lot of members have that challenge and when they get support and understanding here at PC it helps them to gradually make gains on their ability to feel safer in that it's always nice to interact with someone who can relate to one's personal mental health challenge.
