I'd probably call and not go back, but then again, you have to think of future job references. And it is good to have something to occupy your mind outside of BP depression or self-harm thoughts. Maybe just call and say you had a medical emergency. That could mean anything; you don't have to go into details about it.

But then again, I'm a bit of a coward when it comes to stuff like that.
