I have been working hard to save money for Oregon, and by the end of my employment I will have more than what I need for the amount of time Im taking off. My parents and I are planning on getting another dog and a German Shepherd as our top choice (my idea I convinced them of with a heartfelt letter regarding my needs in a dog for my mental health.)

I have committed hours upon hours of research on German Shepherds and raising puppies and the short term and long term costs of raising German Shepherds, so I am well aware of what it takes for full ownership. I have enough money now to put down a significant "down payment" for the new puppy--in cash--to show my parents how serious and dedicated I am to step up my responsibility game. In a letter I wrote exactly what steps Ill take to afford all expenses and effectively raise and train the puppy. I just dont know when the right time to show them the letter and the money.

My parents gave me my cat for Christmas one year, I thought I could present the letter and cash then but I want them to feel happy and amazed that I am doing the right thing and not feel overwhelmed by the money and the gesture on Christmas.

When do you think is the best time to bring up the letter?
