The problem with these other labels you've listed is that, with the exception of RAD, which is only diagnosed in children, they fail to address the particular effects of
chronic interpersonal trauma. There is a great deal of difference between the way trauma manifests in someone who was beaten daily throughout childhood versus, say, an adult who was mugged. Currently, those who have suffered extensive developmental trauma and consequently have interpersonal difficulties are typically given personality disorder diagnoses. This is problematic for many reasons, not the least of which is the lack of effective therapies for said "personality disorders." We need to do a significantly better job treating these issues. Whether CPTSD, Developmental Trauma Disorder, or some other designation, creating a clearly delineated category for those affected by chronic interpersonal trauma would be a start.
