My first therapist was a "wizard" as well, the exact type you are describing, a cocky arrogant A-hole. who woudn't even allow the idea that he might not have all the answers. But he was also the one who introduced the concept of our "relationship" being "both professional and intimate", which sounded like a non sense to me immediately and still does. It felt seductive and as an intrusion into my personal space. So, as much as that crowd loves to talk about boundaries, my experience was that they crossed my boundaries much more than I crossed theirs.
