Lies and the lying liars who tell them?

I don’t believe (because I can’t believe) that many people really are so stupid (your word) that they’re unable to discern the most outrageous lies from more likely truths.

I don’t believe that many people are just so gullible that they will believe the most egregious falsehoods.

What I do believe is that truth simply doesn’t matter. Full stop, no conditions.

Truth, being true, isn’t a valued virtue. Lies, lying — hey, everyone gets things wrong sometimes! — become/becomes true (facts are flexible) because we’re at war with Eurasia. Eastasia.

Yeah, lying is ‘off’ like year-old milk. It stinks. It can be deadly. Maybe a small number of liars really do believe their lies?
