We're getting it (smoke and unhealthy air warnings) here too. And there aren't even any particularly nearby fires(!!) At least there's not ash like last autumn when there was a closeby one. In other words, I've got a mask, but am not using it. It does seem more tiring doing things outside, like walking (especially up the big hill after work getting to the bus stop) We have to open our windows at night to cool off, so fortunately it's not as terrible as last autumn when we couldn't.
My heart really goes out to everyone closer in to the fires. It's really awful business.
