I've never been to urgent care for SI wounds. I went to my dermatologist once because I already had an appointment so I thought, while I was there I would just have him check on some wounds for me. They were too late to stitch but he did ask me if I needed a psych eval. I think it depends on who the provider is at the urgent care. If they have enough training and care they probably wouldn't send you to the ER but I don't know that for sure. My PCP doesn't send me to the ER....
