I was curious about how the additional tax rebate was going to be distributed, I thought that people like you and my daughter would be lost in the shuffle. We claim her because we pay for her education, living expenses, etc, but I do not think we get the rebate for her because she's 18 now.

I'm glad that things worked out with your dad.

I would highly recommend Turbo Tax next year. The version you purchase is much more inclusive than the one online. Before I quit my job we were in a higher tax bracket and EVERYTHING was a form or a worksheet so we had an accountant. He never charged us $300 either, not for doing our taxes anyway. When I quit, he actually recommended Turbo Tax. It's very user friendly and if you have a problem for like $30 more you can talk to one of their accountants and have audit guarantee.

I make the most of ours, my daughter worked at a McDonalds when she was in High School and I did everyone's taxes with it. Although this year I told them that they were buying the paper and ink!
