I lost a lot of hair in the beginning of going on Lamictal. A few years later, I lost CHUNKS of hair due to losing 100 lbs. in a little over a year. It's now coming back in and is getting thick again. I took biotin supplements for awhile but I don't really know if it helped; probably didn't hurt though. I don't take it anymore because it's another pill and I'm already on a crapload of meds as it is (seven for psych, four for blood pressure, vitamins and supplements and a baby aspirin thrown in for good measure).
