I agree with a few of the others that carb reduction could be helpful. I'm not at all fond of very low carb diets (especially those that encourage eating especially high fats), but lowering carbs is known to be helpful. I try to limit refined sugars to a good degree and meals where starchy carbs are the main course. I don't totally eliminate them, though, but when I have them I try to choose whole grains and eat only a small portion of them. I'm in favor of diet adjustments that help, but that I can live with.

I use MyFitnessPal's free features. I find them helpful enough for me. It certainly helps one realize what (and how much) you are eating. It gives recommended daily goals not to exceed. Goals can be adjusted slightly depending on a diet focus, i.e. to lower carbs or to lower saturated fats, etc.
