After my post about feeling lonely the other day (and thank you, all, for your wonderful responses), I realized that the slogan I learned in a 12-step program also identifies factors that start to tip me back toward depression.

The idea is that we are more prone to overeat, anesthesize ourselves with booze or drugs, or resort to any other dysfunctional habit when we are hungry, angry, lonely, or tired. By correctly identifying the trigger, we can address what needs to be done, instead of resorting back to the dysfunctional cure all. (Wonder which one triggers our ex-prez's sex addiction. Hehe.)

As I remain in a state of fatigue, often not taking care of myself by eating -- at all -- going whole days on a slice of bread in the morning until I have a headache and feel like I'm going to faint -- I can see how these factors push me toward seeing myself as a victim, wanting to give up, and starting down the slippery slope toward depression.

Coming here and getting other's insight helps.

Writing out CBT exercises help.

Hope this slogan will help someone else someday.
