I have visited the Pacific and Atlantic oceans. I saw an Octopus while snorkeling in Mexico. I've also seen humpback and killer whales while on Vancouver Island. I love the living beings from anemones all the way up.
Oh, lord, I’ve visited oceans and countless seas.

You know, my favorite might be the Caribbean. Diving deep to swim with hundreds of sea turtles, the brilliant fish among the last living coral, laying nekkid on the bright-white sand. And it’s close to home! (Well, if you live on the East Coast.)

I was born and reared (to give respect) on the West/Pacific coast but my dad and I moved to the East/Atlantic coast when I was 10, I think? We actually were inland, in Virginia, not having the Atlantic in the backyard as we did in
La Jolla. I remember my dad saying, “don’t be disappointed,” over and over as he drove me to my first Atlantic experience. Well, I was disappointed. The beach and the water looked nasty and polluted and, finding my courage, I dove into a small wave and the water was so damned cold; you can visit New Hampshire beaches in the heat of July 4th and the water is still damned cold.

I had snowbird friends that I visited in Florida on the Gulf Coast — 2004, I think. My legs weren’t strong enough to venture even knee-deep into the Gulf but it was so warm and beautiful compared to any Atlantic beach.

So, yeah; love the Caribbean, rather hate the Atlantic. Love the Mediterranean, too.

Big sigh.
