Yeah, I completely know the feeling. On Sunday night when I finally could sleep I was having dreams that I kept screwing something up at work.
To cope, I have been trying to focus on things outside of work that I enjoy. My husband and I were able to get away to a place that we find very relaxing last week for four days. We are both under a lot of stress, so we decided to go somewhere we were familiar with and could trust things would be stress-free. Plus, it’s the type of place with lots to do on the grounds, so we could just arrive and stay there without having to do more driving. It did help me recharge a bit.
I have a lot of vacation time accumulated, so I do also take a mental health half day or day here and there. In October we’re taking a week off and there’s a 5-day weekend coming up next month, thinking about those things coming up makes it somewhat more bearable.
Exercise helps a bit too. We have a puppy, so we take him out for long walks when my husband gets home from work and on weekends. Or, we do some urban exploration walking around different neighborhoods of our city.
On nights when I really can’t turn off my brain, I take one of those natural sleep remedies, which seems to help.
I know you are trying to transfer, but are you in a position to be looking for other jobs as well? Unfortunately, I am kind of stuck where I am because my husband and I want to apply for a mortgage in the next few months and I need at least a year with a company for my income to be taken into account. I try to focus on the fact that I am doing this for us to be able to buy a house.
Lots of hugs!
