I don't like to do friendship requests with anyone. It's not my thing and I usually delete them whether or not I really like that person. It's a personal choice.

Yes, I've met amazing people here...but it's hard to be friends with someone I've never met let alone know who they look like. I just tend to "root for people" who I like here.
