I am not sure what you mean by background noise.

I hear music and talk radio, sometimes, with white noise. The white noise may be coming from an air conditioner or a fan, for example. This happens on occasion for me and is very bothersome when it happens.

I know other friends here have had a variety of experiences with "voices."
