our mental health care system is in trouble. So are primary care practices.

My pdoc just retired and for months, it looked like I was going to have no pdoc at all! I would be in trouble without a pdoc. Same goes with my primary care doc; he is retiring and they've been having difficulties finding a replacement.

Pdocs and primary care docs are frustrated with the conditions under which they must work, even at a university (teaching) hospital/health care center.

It's all so damned frustrating!

Ugh. I hope a replacement for your primary care doc happens soon. My primary care doctor is a nice woman, but...meh...not the greatest doctor. Especially when it comes to psych meds! She basically refuses to deal with psych stuff at all, except in a true emergency. Even then, she's "loudly" reluctant.

My pdoc went out on a "sudden medical leave" last week. I have an appointment scheduled for September 3rd, but I'm very stressed from worrying about her leaving. The last 3 pdocs I've had in my town all left with absolutely no warning or closure. I think that is professionally terribly irresponsible, but that's what they do. Tough luck for the patients. Finding another pdoc anywhere near where I live would be unlikely.
