Hmm. Yeah, I would approach the story with a bit of skepticism.
I’ve done massive doses of acid and other hallucinogens and can’t say that I tripped for more than 2-3 days. I was so angry, once, of being unable to trip on five hits from a full sheet of blotter that I ate the entire sheet. That resulted in a slight headache.
I’ve never — never, ever, ever — heard of
anyone suffering a vegetative state from an overdose of any hallucinogens.
If I were you, before you accept the tale as true, I would seek more collaboration. Sounds like an urban legend to me; I’ve heard a lot of them involving LSD/going insane/acid given to those under pretense.
Certainly some people have ‘bad trips’ and suffer from psychological symptoms during one, but... in the 1960-1970’s the most ludicrous claim circulating was that using LSD would make on ‘jump out of windows.’ Maybe a handful did. But if everyone who tripped jumped through windows to their deaths we baby boomers would be scarce!
