To all the animal lovers and sane rational people here on Psych Central, I need to ask for your help for the wild horses of our country. The present administration wants to allow the wild horses to be slaughtered and sent to Europe for food.....this was slipped through the voting process via hitching a ride on a much larger appropriations bill.......Please, if you feel like responding, write to your local newspaper and ALL of your representatives and senators.If we hold their feet to the fire, we might be able to pull this off before the killing begins. The ranchers in the west pay $1.43 an acre to lease the land that belongs to all of us. They do not want to share one bite of grass with the wild horses. Plus the lobbyists for the oil companies want those horses off the land so that they can rape, pillage and drill for oil. I photographed these horses and actually camped out in the middle of a huge refuge by Bartlesville, Oklahoma where there are 1100 living now. I also photographed an auction and then stayed in a prison photographing the inmates training these adopted horses. A person can adopt a wild horse for $125.00. (last time I checked $)The inmates need this program as it is a win win situation for them AND the horses that they come to love while caring for them. A colt had been born the day before I arrived at the prison and the inmates acted as if they had a baby of their own. They were so proud of their work and of the horses that were there and I think it is something that needs to be continued. Rehab for the prisoner and the horse!! Thanks.....
