I have absolutely no idea if the story is true, or not. And sometimes stories like that can get turned around a bit...maybe part is true, part is not.

I will say that I was dating a boy in high school (this would have been in 1979-80). He had a best friend who was a serious jerk...very mean and sadistic. I kept my distance from the guy; I couldn't stand him. One night, we were at a crazy, unsupervised party that was in someone's home (no parents around, of course)...people crashed the party and it all got out of hand way too fast. That house was packed with teens, and there was plenty of drinking and drugs going on.

So there was one boy who somehow ended up at the party; the boy was kind, sweet, and not popular or "cool". He seemed like the type of guy who would have been at home with his parents watching TV on a Saturday night. But someone had brought him to the party. Well, my boyfriend's best friend dosed the boy's punch with PCP (which was popular at the time). The poor kid freaked out badly. He did wind up in a psych hospital for several weeks and, honestly, he never seemed quite the same again. He just seemed checked out. Of course, part of that might have been because he had PTSD from the a-hole dosing his punch.

I've never forgotten the incident. It not only frightened me, but I was absolutely appalled that my bf's best friend had done such an egregious thing to someone. My long-ago boyfriend and his (still!) best friend are on my Facebook friends list, as are a large group of people I went to high school with. Oh, there are so many, many times when I want to ask about how that sadistic guy could have done such a thing to someone. The sad part for me is that, for the life of me, I cannot recall the name of the kid who was dosed. I sure do think about him, though, and I sure do hope that his life is going well.
