You probably know that Effexor has a bad name for withdrawal symptoms. I'm on 112 .5 mg right now and eventually I would like to get off tell me your story about getting off and how was it[/QUOTE]My PDOC cross-tapered me to Cymbalta. Don't remember the exact time frame, but somewhere between a few weeks and a month, but not beyond that.
I was worried about the withdrawal symptoms too, both because of what I'd read and seeing, first hand, my mom experience unpleasant withdrawal, including "brain zaps," after she was prescribed it off-label for menopause-related hot flashes.
It wasn't even a big dose either — 37.5mg, if I remember correctly — but either the NP had little-to-no experience with psych meds or a special kind of stupid because she told her to stop it cold turkey and "should be fine."
Ultimately, with me, it was very painless. I honestly couldn't tell you if I felt anything unpleasant or adverse. So, obviously, take it with a huge grain of salt: I'm sure I was more lucky than anything.
