We have suicidal alters too. They have such a hard job. We did some work with one of our most suicidal ones recently and developed a lot of compassion for her. We came to understand that her entire job was to compartmentalize and experience those feelings of abject hopelessness and despair so none of the rest of us had to. That was her whole life! No wonder she wanted to die!
Like we do with all the alters we get to know we slowly began to develop a relationship wit her. We used to be so terrified of her because she only ever tried to kill herself (us included!) But the more we got to know her the more we came to realize she was just an incredibly lonely and hurting young teen who needed love, care, support and friendship. Now we love her as part of our inner family and she never, ever feels the way she used to before.
So in your case... ringing a hotline doesn't work. Checking into a hospital doesn't work. Maybe you could try extending the hand of friendship to him? Doing something kind for him?
