Hello rocknrolladdict: Since this is your first post here on PC... welcome to PsychCentral. As I understand it your concern is whether you should try to force yourself to work in the private sector or wait until a government job becomes available. You mentioned you fear being homeless if your parents should pass away before you do. I presume what you mean is that you're concerned your parents could pass away before you have the opportunity to establish yourself in a government job?

I don't know if I can really advise you with regard to this. Perhaps other members, here on PC, will have some perspectives they can share. One thing you didn't mention is how long it might take for a government job opportunity to arise. (Perhaps there's no way to know?)
