having grown up in nyc and having been exposed to many different groups of immigrants and being the minority myself in some of the jobs i have had i can tell you that racism cuts both ways. Every group has its racists not just white people and chinese. When a group beomes the majority in an industry or job they tend to hire and in many cases only hire people who are in their group, especially for the better paying jobs. I also have seen at least here that racism is in decline and is nothing like it was when i was a kid 40 years ago. There is a street in Queens, Roosevelt Ave. , that has in a one mile stretch 117 distinct ethnic communities, not just a few people but a community. So that kind of forces people to be more tolerant.
