I've had migraines since I was about 8 years old. Excruciating, hatchet, sickening migraines. So bad that, in high school, I recall lying on the cool bathroom floor in the school bathroom near the toilet so I could throw up in it. There was nothing OTC until Advil became available - I was in my 20's. Prior to that, the only treatment was ergot (prescription). That stuff was horrid; made my heartbeat very odd - and didn't help the migraines. When Imitrex spray came out, it was a blessing. once, I had to crawl into a clinic for an Imitrex shot. Ugh.
Thankfully, since going through menopause the migraines have not only lessened in frequency, but they have lessened dramatically in severity. Advil does the job now, usually.
You have my most profound sympathy.
