I fully understand this whole process! It's a terrible thing to need pain medication. Many years ago my MD tried to pull some line on me about the "FDA" and all, but I pushed back because that's for MDs who prescribe pain meds for the average joe, and not someone like me who has documented chronic pain. She had to give in, as there is also a law about treating pain!
There are so many arguments on the side of a real chronic pain patient! (Like, once it's documented, WHO CARES what high dose you have to take to be functional? WHO CARES that you are dependent upon it; diabetics are dependent upon insulin too!

)
I am so glad this worked out for you. It's a terrible thing to be in pain, trying to control all that goes with that, and not appear to be an addict demanding pain med! GRRRRRR.
Once you get settled, or if this continues for a while (I sure hope not) you can begin to investigate other (additional) methods of helping control pain.
