You can work some if you are getting SSDI. You also might want to try for other community benefits if your income is low and you have dependents under age 18 and in some cases 22. If your dependants are 16 they need to get a job and help out. That's part of my definition of family.

I agree with Dejay. Both of my now adult kids had jobs when they were teenagers. They had no problem getting one. It helps teach them responsibility and that nothing is free in life. They both still work now
