I've been "caught" with fresh wounds. It didn't deter me from self-harming, I just got better at hiding it. I just explained the situation honestly, unfortunately my parents were not in a mood to listen and tried to have me put IP. Another time a friend "caught" me with fresh wounds and got all hysterical. We aren't friends anymore.
