I saw a headline this week that 1 in 5 people in Florida would not evacuate if a Cat 4 storm was headed this way. Part of me was surprised the number was that low. But my first thought was that they all must be recent Yankee transplants.
I don't live anywhere near where Andrew slammed the state back in '91, but seeing the aftermath was enough to convince me to get the heck out of Dodge if a storm heads my way. I live in the center of the X created by the storms in 2004. I saw first hand the devastation those storms caused. I ended up having to replace my own house due to damage. I laugh now that I will lead the parade out of town if a storm heads this way.
