That's been my experience. I'm the worst when it comes to tracking my moods but I go 2-3 majority of months low, with maybe at max a month of high before crashing low again. When my therapist first diagnosed me as bipolar, I couldn't see it... until I looked back over the last 3 years with him and realized.. wow, yeah.
Depression has always been my primary concern, and to this day still is -- the hypomania is a nice break from the sadness albeit a little risk-taking and impulsive. I gotta take what I can get. But to answer your question-- yes, my therapist has told me it's very common for those with bipolar II to follow a longer depression cycle.
