So happy that he responded that way! I think I'm actually touched by it for you even. I sure don't think it's cheesy or patronizing, I'll never forget my t saying "I'm so proud of you" on a phone session after I'd told her I published my little book of poems. Not a phrase I heard growing up from my parents, and didn't hear from my mom then either.
