Mon-Thurs AF is good going . I'm no expert , but believe it's about creating a pattern so it feels like it's normal to do something ...like not drink . Then to do that for long enough that you actually enjoy that routine .
I didn't have a problem with drinking ...just drank every day for 15 years ...also did a 12 hour shift in a gold mine most of those days , so I generally wasn't drinking to excess 3 , 4 , or 5 beers 6 nights a week and as many as I could fit in on a Saturday night . I get tested fir drugs and alcohol every day before I commence work ( not just me , we all do in the underground mining industry ) and I would always read 0.0 . So have no problem it would seem , but I was feeling worn out and not as dynamic ..maybe also depressed a bit .
But it was a habit I believed I would miss if I stopped . I also thought it helped me cope with stress at work ( I am a supervisor so there is pressure to produce cost effective Oz's of gold ) .
Anyway a year ago I decided I would only drink one day a week . Man I felt better in no time at all . So much so , that often on the Saturday night I can drink I only have a few now . I'm enjoying the clarity of being in control now . My wife has gone to England for a month , so thought I would set myself a challenge of not drinking for the month . Going well so far ..enjoying it in fact .
Your challenge is your own Bizi , and I'm not being so self centred to offer advice ...I just felt like typing . Your trip away to Prague will of course create some challenges , but also some wonderful opportunities to remember forever .
