I figure an adult can go do what they want. I don't look to my partner to affirm whether I can go to the grocery or out with friends or so on. It would annoy the bejeesus out of me for someone to expect me to say anything more than - okay or maybe have a good time. Are you asking permission or just giving an update. An update doesn't really require much of a response as far as I can see.
