I probably would not have been unsettled by such news. It would unsettle me more for someone to be pushed if I was going to be actually unsettled. That is not to say I would be happy, but just not unsettled. I would probably be more musing like why that way at that time of day etc. The pondering of details (albeit unknown) might interest me. I would probably be more like poor guy and go on. My being upset is not going to help him any.
