Diagnosis can be tricky.
In the past, my diagnosis has been Severe Atypical Depression, treatment-resistant.
My current diagnosis is BP II.
It's one thing for a practitioner to say: I think you might have BP illness, as opposed to saying: you do definitely have BP.
It usually takes time to sort out the most correct diagnosis; this cannot be done in one visit. That said, providers often use a provisional diagnosis, one under which to submit billing, until a more accurate diagnosis is made.
