I feel for you about the huge thuds!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I've totally been there, sigh.....
I want to say something warm and encouraging

… like hold on, you aren't alone in having nightmare neighbours who wake you up at night, and hold on... stretch out a hand to hold you if that makes any sense.
I'm out of that situation now in a peaceful place, but it took - hmmmn, I don't like to say how many years to find a quiet home. For me there is no solution to being woken up by crashes in the night.
One rough place where I lived - it helped that I consciously set about making allies and good neighbours. It helped me psychologically to feel safe, and it was enjoyable at times. It's important to have supportive allies to resist bad neighbourhood behaviour.
Once my sleep was so bad that I got told off at work for slurring my words.
Oh, another thing that helped me was a book that simply advised to take very small steps in achieving something every day. Like filing one piece of paper, or washing the cups and teapot and leaving the rest - and to acknowledge/ connect to the reality that I have power to make something small better in my life.
(((((hugs to you each time you can't sleep)))))
