We all have different things, and all that comparing does is make someone feel bad. My parents didn't let me learn to drive. I saved up and fought and managed to pay for driving school (parents wouldn't let me take drivers ed in school), and got my license at 17 1/2, but was never allowed to use the car. I have a sister who is 31 now and a brother who is 27, and neither of them ever learned how to drive, so it can always be worse too.

Your rules may be a little on the overprotective side, and your friend's may be on the lenient side, but you two are different people, and your parents are different people, and we all have our own challenges in life. It doesn't mean anything is wrong with you.
