Did you hear exactly what she said to the other people? If not, it's possible she said something similar to others. My thoughts are that perhaps this psychic knows that a large percentage of people in the US take psychiatric medications, especially for depression, and especially women. The term "mood swings" is also not exclusive to bipolar disorder. I bet if you asked the average woman if they have "mood swings" they'd say "yes". I also guess that many people who are even willing to go to a psychic, do so because they have issues they wish someone would help them solve. Many people with minor to no issues are usually not racing to psychics. Many would consider them charlatans, con artists, and shysters. So if you consider all of these things, that allows a psychic, who is perhaps also skilled at gambling, to make pretty reliable guesses, or guesses that are general enough to be right based on statistics, psychology, manipulation, and other methods. Marketers, sales people, and politicians...yup, yup, yup, are also pretty good at doing some of these things, believe me. People believe them.
Please don't take my views above as a criticism. I, myself, have been tempted in the past to go to a psychic for fun, or just curiosity. If they said something that seemed close or on the mark, it would definitely get my attention, especially if I was vulnerable in some way. However, I see a psychic as no different than a very good magician, like Penn and Teller. Penn and Teller make oodles of money doing what they do, but they, unlike psychics, admit that their magic and guesses are based on illusions, slight of hand, and researched probabilities, etc. Penn is a brilliant man, and was a clear winner of a celebrity jeopardy competition. Famous comedians also tend to be winners, too. They have key features in common. They can trigger emotions in people's minds easily, tend to be very knowledgeable about many things, and have a unique type of intelligence.
Please trust your psychiatrist to make medication recommendations. Or if you do ask this psychic to tell you what she thinks you should take, never take it unless it is obtained as a result of a real doctor prescribing it based on medical science, critical thinking, and a true knowledge of your symptoms and history.
