Sounds like they sent you an ethernet cable. Do you have any other telephone cable to use? I buy them at the dollar store..make sure it's as short as you can get by with, as the longer they are the more loss of signal.

Are you sure they haven't sent 2 cables, one for ethernet connection and one for telephone?
