I understand your concerns, Michael. But we are still fortunate to enjoy the most freedom and personal decision-making-power out of just about anywhere else in the world, living where we live (in free North America).
I have to agree with everyone else here...the most they're going to find out about me (strictly speaking) is that I'm terribly uninteresting. And so are my health issues, if my own closest family is any indication of how fascinating I am.
If I try and take on problems that large, well, I quickly become overwhelmed. It's too much like a sci-fi movie nightmare that I have no power to influence, or end.
I'd be willing to bet that the facilities you've read about really are there for National (and Global) Security reasons.
If anyone starts treading on our personal freedoms, however, you will then see a groundswell movement that would astonish all historians for all time. Brave people are protesting those very things almost every day, every week, and weekend in the U.S. Capital and elsewhere. People ARE paying attention to what matters.
Election Day is coming soon and nothing will keep me from doing my American best, even if I am relatively far from home. I do still believe the country of my birth still has my best interests at heart (not the politicians, but the Country as it stands, the People.)
Be careful what you give your time and energy and attention to. It can ruin your day, and sap much-needed energy away from matters at hand.
