greenpepper, what book are you reading? Is it good? I am looking for some help in understanding parts.

freewill, my understanding (from reading at that website) is that IFS is not used to "manage" alters. It is just a model for understanding our internal parts/ego states. You can still have your same alters or ego states. It's just a way of thinking about them and puts them into a family therapy model for working out their differences. I'm not sure it is useful to me practically or not in thinking about my ego states, but it was definitely interesting reading. freewill, I'm also not sure of the application to DIDers. When I read it, I thought it was an outgrowth of ego state therapy and wasn't necessarily intended for DID. greenpepper, I am very interested in how your T will use this model with DID.
