The latest scams here in Canada are the "CRA" and "RCMP" scams.
Essentially the one says the Canada Revenue Agency is coming after you for unpaid income taxes. The second is that the police have warrants out for your arrest and if you pay them (the scammer) money they will have the warrants cancelled.
It couldn't be more obvious these aren't legit as in both cases the grammar and diction of the caller is miserably bad. That should be the first clue. The second? The government is not going to ask for iTunes cards as payment. Honestly, I don't get how people fall prey to this. Yet, they do - by the thousands. I don't get how stupid people can be.
Also, I just had an acquaintance scammed as she was positive she had a relationship with Rick Springfield and, at his insistence, sent him money for a trip here to meet her. How on earth can this have happened to her? How could she have been so naive? Look, no celebrity is going to ask for money to visit you. Period.
