I love that chapter. I've actually quoted that it to my T before, but it was a different part. I was explaining how, no matter what I know logically, things still
feel like abandonment/rejection and still hurt.
So the little prince tamed the fox. And when the hour of his departure drew near—
"Ah," said the fox, "I shall cry."
"It is your own fault," said the little prince. "I never wished you any sort of harm; but you wanted me to tame you . . ."
"Yes, that is so," said the fox.
"But now you are going to cry!" said the little prince.
"Yes, that is so," said the fox.
The part I would want to quote to my T but would be too ashamed/embarrassed is when the fox says
"You become responsible, forever, for what you have tamed."
I feel like that applies to therapists. If you're going to get us to let down our defenses and finally be vulnerable and trust and allow ourselves to care, you'd better be prepared to handle it.
