really, from what i have researched and my own experiences, i wonder if ego states and alters are one and the same thing. the book i mentioned uses those terms interchangabley also.
Yes, DID is a continuum. There are lots of words, lots of theories... and arguments on whether it is a mental illness or more likely a creative way of coping with trauma.
