My thought upon first reading your post was "hmm, that's an interesting question" and I started thinking about how to respond. I don't think it's a waste of time at all, and you have every right to space because you're just as valuable as everyone else.
And if someone doesn't find the question personally relevant or interesting no one is forcing them to read it and respond.
