My T refers to them as skills. DBT teaches lots of coping skills. Mindfulness for example has been very helpful for me. It includes things like counted breathing which helps with relaxation to reduce stress and clear the mind.
I was freaking out over something for the past 2 days. My DBT coach suggested I put ice on my face. It somehow stops the fear response and adrenaline that was putting me in a bad place.
Another tool is using aroma therapy. I wear a necklace that holds a scent which is very calming.
There are many more. Ask your T what kind of tools would work best for you.
