I've been seeing this therapist for maybe even a year. She offered me either every two weeks or every three. I'm not in an emergency and my last long-term therapist only saw me every two weeks for many years, so that didn't seem outrageous. I expected some "therapy" though. What we do is I complain and she'll say a few things (that I already knew). When I asked her how to get a hold of her out of session she just gave me a surprised look and we dropped it.

After she was gone for 2 or 3 appointments for some (mysterious but not serious) procedure the office assistant scheduled me for one appointment just a week after another (with 3 weeks between the next two.) Seeing me after one week the therapist was really annoyed. I don't know with the assistant or with me, but it didn't exactly make me feel good.

I see my psychiatrist in the same office every two months and he'll let me talk to him up to a half hour, which we don't usually use.

I feel like my therapist and I have different ideas about her role in my life and just that my feelings are hurt too. On the other hand I can't say I really need more therapy. Should I find someone who actually is pleased to see me at shorter notice or just accept that this is working okay and get over it? Would your therapist be glad or annoyed to see you an extra time when she's not expecting you?
