Moms can be thoughless sometimes, Court. Your mom probably had been up for a while and her motor was reving to get the house cleaned up. Maybe she was a little jealous of you because you were sleeping in?
Maybe when you're both in a good mood, you might try talking to her and asking her to wake you up a little nicer then wait for you to at least wash your face and have breakfast or something. You could ask her to make a list of things she wants you to do rather than to yell at you to do this and that.
To keep her from getting upset and having to yell, take responsibility for that list and start doing what she needs you to do.
You know, the only thing my mom ever asked me to do as far as housecleaning was to dust all the furniture. When I got married, I had NO CLUE how to do things. What's worse, I had no established method or habit of things that had to be done. My mom never even bothered to teach me how to cook. Talk about a rude awakening!
Do yourself a favor and do what's on your list. If you don't know how to do it
efficiently, ask your mom how she does it. You'll be surprised how far that goes as to her appreciating it! She might even be really nice to you at the time and might even take you shopping later!
But yeah. You need to contribute your part to the upkeep of the house. What can I say? That's just part of growing up.
