Whether or not you care about clients as individuals (as opposed to professional interests) seems like a pretty basic component of a therapist's practice. Even if he decides he does care about clients as individuals, I would not feel safe about being the "cared for" guinea pig. He doesn't sound as if he is able to reflect robustly and his personal insight seems significantly limited. You are a stronger client than me if you are committed to following his blind path.
