I can't imagine abusing animals. I can't even stand hitting an critter wuth my truck. I have rescued snapping turtles off the road. I stop for turtle doves that are notorious for their slow take offs.
I had a horrible time dealing with the loss of my first dog after moving here when I had all 7 of my doggies out in the yard while I was doing yard work. I knew never to use choke chains but at the time I had just moved & left everything when I moved & that was all I had. He managed to choke himself after wrapping his tie out around a pole. I tried for an hour to revive him. Now the love of my life doggie is 16 & having health problems. He has constant vet appointments & we are trying to get the right med adjustment to help the breathing & coughing. He was bad over the weekend & quit eating. I pureed the food & suppkiments together & fed him through a syringe. He is feeling good enough now to eat it off a spoon I give it to him with & breathing is better after a med adjust yesterday. He is feeling much better today & worth all the effort to get him through the crisis.
The women's horse group I am part of has spent some sleepkess nights staying with their sick or the rescued abused horses our sheriff department knew they could depend on us to care for.
It is good to see the care animals get when we see the horrible abuse that can happen too. Being part of the farming community I understand raising animals for food & I am thankful that the local meat processing places are very humane in their handling of the animals. Caring & compassion for animals can be kept even in a farming environment.
